With media careers spanning over a decade, Shanelle and Tamara have worked together and individually in commercial radio, television, stage and brand events across the spectrum of corporate and community organisations, in presenting and producing roles. Pairing together on-air as radio announcers in the mid 00’s, they found their undeniable chemistry and drive has seen them maintain a strong friendship and working relationship ever since.
Shanelle and Tamara created The Beautiful Nightmare (formally Motherhood a Beautiful Nightmare) – the podcast for when you’re flying by the seat of your pants. The podcast inspired their live comedy shows, where they had sell out seasons at the Adelaide Fringe, and went on to tour regionally. A deeply loyal fanbase soon followed. Collaborating with popular blogging site Mum’s Lounge, they also produce weekly episodes of the podcast Tit Bits– taking the mickey bliss out of top trending stories.
Since the podcast’s inception, Shanelle and Tamara have MC’d media events for major brands such as Bonds, the national charity Share the Dignity, as well as toured their live show to sell out audiences. They have grown their international fan base to now be considered in the top 20% of podcasts in the world.
Shanelle Franklin is a presenter, producer, podcaster, MC, voice over artist and writer who is based in Adelaide, South Australia. With a career in radio, television and the music industry spanning over a decade with brands such as Channel 9 Adelaide, SAFM, Fresh927, Foxtel, Music SA and the BBC, Shanelle also produced, directed and presented the series Jam Live for Channel 9 and 9Now.
A classically trained singer, composer and voice over artist, Tamara Linke has voiced for brands locally and internationally such as X-Box, the voice of YouTube Music Australia, Go Daddy and the Australian Radio Network.
Tamara has presented weekend breakfast on Nova 919 and Fresh 927 and sang back up vocals for Michael Buble on his Mr. Irresponsible tour.
In 2022 and again in 2023 the pair were shortlisted for the AACTA Reg Grundy Award, with their original TV idea in the running to win $50K to bring their original TV idea to life. Searching for concepts that were not only entertaining and interesting, but viable, a panel of industry experts selected the pair’s Unshackled project for the Top Ten vying for the prestigious development award. The 2023 award recipient will be announced in early 2024.
In 2023 The Beautiful Nightmare podcast joined some of the best in the business as one of five national finalists for ‘Comedy Podcast of the Year’ in the Australian Podcast Industry Awards. The only women to have reached the finals, the prestigious nomination puts them in the company of heavyweights The Chaser, Tony Martin, Aunty Donna, and winner for the past three years running, A Rational Fear.
